Taë Schmeisser is a designer and jeweller whose work focuses on the quiet and often overlooked beauty in urban iconography and physical landscapes. Her different series of works take inspiration from things such as her mother’s hip replacement and washing the dishes, as well as matchsticks for her ‘Vesta’ collection; “The vesta with its purely functional form, is one of the most beautiful and recognisable everyday objects. Sterling silver and enamel are combined to illustrate the effective simplicity in its colour composition and form.”
Taë studied Visual Arts- glass at the Australian National University, before expanding her material vocabulary in gold & silversmithing in Melbourne. Taë was the artist in residence at the Skopelos Art Foundation in Greece in 2009. She has travelled extensively and has been exhibiting nationally since 2002.
