about the exhibition
“Recently I returned to central Australia, a place that has a depth and grandeur difficult to put into words. It had a profound effect on me years ago, and this time was no different. It is vast and complex, often almost silent, yet full of energy. The moonless, night sky is so full of star light there is no true black. These works come from there. In a recent series, I have been working with natural forces – vibration, wave motion, reticulation – and wished to make my hand invisible; a collaboration with nature, as a silent partner. In these works the alliance with nature is still crucial, but I have felt compelled to make the human element more present, representing a more symbiotic interrelationship”’ Catherine Woo, September 2018
