Beaver Galleries is located in the city of Canberra, the national capital of Australia. Established in 1975, it is the largest privately-owned gallery in Canberra. The gallery's reputation extends well beyond its strong national presence in Canberra to increasing international recognition with its active programme of promoting Australian artists overseas. There are four separate gallery spaces for exhibitions and displays, as well as a sculpture garden, gallery shop and licensed cafe. Beaver Galleries is open 10am - 5pm daily and visitors are always welcome.

28 February 2008 - Finalists announced for prizes at the Art Gallery of New South Wales include Graham Fransella (Wynne Prize) for his entry "Landscape figures" and GW Bot (Sulman Prize) for her entry "Veil of civilization"


12 December 2007 - ACT Chief Minister, Jon Stanhope, awarded local artist, Anna Eggert, with the prestigious $35,000 ACT Creative Arts (Visual Arts) Fellowship for 2008. This award will help Anna work towards significant exhibitions of her new work this year, at Beaver Galleries in May and at the Melbourne Art Fair in July.

10 December 2007 - Canberra artist, Christine James, was announced as one of the Canberra Critics' Circle Award winners for her 2007 exhibition at Beaver Galleries.

29 June 2007 - "Mesmerized", an exhibition byCanberra artist, Anna Eggert, opens at the Canberra Museum and Gallery. Further exploring the use of steel mesh to represent the flowing forms of female clothing, Anna examines the Muslim burka. The exhibition continues until 2 September.

9 June 2007 - Canberra glass artist Mel Douglas was announced
as the winner of the Lino Tagliapietra Young Glass Prize at the Glasmuseet Ebeltoft in Denmark

28 April 2007 - Victorian artist, David Frazer, was announced as one of the major prize winners at the International Print Biennale in Guanlan, China. Recently also runner-up in the Burnie Print Prize, David will feature in an episode of a new ABC TV series entitled "Artist at Work", to be screened on 28 August 2007.
