1 June - Sadly, and far too soon, Jörg Schmeisser has died in his 71st year. A gentle and caring family man, friend and artist he will be so missed, particularly in Canberra, and by his many other friends and colleagues throughout the world. We are privileged to have known him and can still enjoy the beauty of his prints with their technical virtuosity, extraordinary detail, warmth and sensitivity. Jörg had a way of seeing the world - often drawing our attention to the special small things that can be overlooked whilst still keeping an eye on the bigger picture. He will be greatly missed.

21 April - Congratulations to GW Bot who has been awarded the 2012 Calleen Art prize at the Cowra Regional Art Gallery, for her beautiful work Glyphs: Tree of Life 2012, watercolour and graphite on colombe paper 100cm x 100cm.

Awards judge, Jason Smith, Director of the Heide Museum of Modern Art explained - “I selected G.W. Bot for the Calleen Art Award because I found her work to be deeply enigmatic. It appeared simultaneously as a moonlit nocturnal landscape with phenomena, and as a dynamic field of abstract gestures. Her work is quietly but intensely alluring. It is beautifully crafted as an object, but its materiality emphasizes the textures of landscape.”
