Tasmanian-based artist Lucienne Rickard is renowned for highly detailed and often large-scale graphite drawings. Lucienne completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Queensland College of Art in 2001 and, in the following year, Honours (First Class) in Fine Arts at the University of Tasmania. Having completed her PhD in Fine Arts at the University of Tasmania and been awarded the Rosamond McCulloch Studio Residency in Paris, she has had work in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Australia. In 2014, Lucienne was selected to participate in “Primavera”, the Museum of Contemporary Art’s annual showing of bold new work from young Australian artists and, in 2018, selected for the Dobell Australian Drawing Biennial at the Art Gallery of NSW. Lucienne recently undertook a 12-month drawing project, ‘Extinction Studies’, at the Tasmanian Museum and Gallery where, for 5 days a week for 12 months, she drew and then erased a succession of recently extinct species.
